Five times elected the best convention center in South America by the World Travel Awards, Riocentro is the main venue for events, managed by GL events Brasil. With infrastructure and management of international standard, Riocentro turned into a sort of symbol of Rio de Janeiro’s high-performance in attracting new investments currently. In 2011, it was chosen to host the Rio + 20 Conference in 2012, the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) of the FIFA World Cup™ 2014 and FIFA’s Local Organising Committee (LOC). Besides this, it attracts new trade shows to Rio de Janeiro and receives more and more visitors each year.
In 2011, the convention center — the largest one in Latin America — recorded the largest number of events and audience over its 34-year history. XXX million (1.30 million in 2010) people have visited seventy exhibits, conferences, concerts, and national and international corporate meetings. That represented an increase of 11% in the number of events and X% in the number of visitors. The investments made in events amounted to R$ XXX million (R$ 165 million in 2010). These record figures mark GL events Brasil’s fifth anniversary, as it has managed the venue since 2006.
